ALUM: Joel McCorkel

Dr. Joel McCorkel is a physical research scientist in the Biospheric Sciences Laboratory at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center where his current work involves development and characterization of the next-generation environmental monitoring and Earth observing sensors. Dr. McCorkel has experience planning and executing ground- and airborne-based campaigns for satellite sensor vicarious calibration and validation which he developed during his time at University of Arizona, National Ecological Observatory Network, and NASA. He is currently GOES-R Flight Project Scientist, the Landsat 9 TIRS-2 Deputy Instrument Scientist leading the prelaunch instrument characterization, and the PI of the Goddard Laser for Absolute Measurement of Radiance (GLAMR).
